Failed to build an installer

Sep 29, 2010 at 1:25 AM

Hi, there

I tried to build a new installer of trident.  I have installed WIX on my machine, however, when I ran "make.cmd" that sits in "setup" folder, "make.cmd" cannot find "%BuildRoot%\tools\setup\createlicense.vbs".

And where should the %BuildRoot% be pointed to?

Cheers

Hi,

Can you please follow the Developer On-boarding Guide for building a new Trident installer?

Also, you can refer the following discussion Installation using build\full.cmd in codeplex for more information.

Please let us know if this answers your question.
Thanks,

Thanks a lot.

I followed the guide and tried again, but it failed because of a small problem:

It poped up an error message:

\src\Trident\tools\build\..\..\target\debug\\TridentManagedCustomActions.dll
x86
0 File(s) copied
Error in building msi

This file doe exist in the folder : D:\src\Trident\target\debug\TridentManagedCustomActions.dll

The possible reason I can see is :  there is a double slash in .... debug\\TridentManagedCustomActions.dll  .. .

Is that the reason? How can I solve it?

Cheers

Solved.

The error may be caused by the mix version. I used wix 3.6 sdk,not wix3.0. After I changed to wix3.0, building process was successful.
