Exploiting database

Oct 4, 2010 at 10:14 AM
Hi Trident devs!

I currently writing my diploma thesis "exploit an internal database for an improved workflow execution" and would like to ask you, if you are exploiting your database in any kind to improve the performance of Trident workflows?

Thank you Florian

Hi Florian,

Thank you for your interest in Trident workflows.

No, we are not exploiting the internal database for improving the performance of the Trident workflows.

But. We are using the internal database for the following

  • Storing Trident workflows
  • Storing execution results of the workflow (Provenance)
  • Versioning of workflows

Please feel free to let us know if you need any other information.
Thanks and regards,

Hi Trident Support Team,

yes you answered my questions! Sorry I did not responded earlier. I had some other things to take care of.

As I had a look into the Trident source code and the MS SQL schema I wondered if you are using the UDF as an abstraction layer between the database calls in the source code and the actual schema of the database?

Thanks and regards,

Florian

Hi Florian,

Correct. UDF(User defined functions) and stored procedures are used as an abstraction layer between the database calls in the source code and the actual schema of the database

Please let us know if you have any further questions/issues.
Thanks,
