Sequence of arguments in an activity keeps changing

Hi, there

When we drag an activity into a canvas, we find the position of the arguments is different for each time.  Positions of these arguments are shown randomly.

For example, if we have A, B, C three input arguments,  everytime we open this activity,  it may show A, B, C, sometime show C,B,A etc,  

Do we have a way to arrange the arguments to be shown as the same sequence?

Hi,

No. The order in which the arguments are shown is controlled by Trident framework. Please find below explanation on how the Trident framework decides on the order of the arguments.

In Trident parameters in the activities are grouped on the following categories and the order in which the categories are shown is as follows.

 

Input Parameters: 

  1.  
    1. Workflow and activity required parameters.
    2. Workflow Required parameters.
    3. Activity required parameters.
    4. Optional parameters.

Output parameters:

  1.  
    1. Workflow Required.
    2. Workflow optional.

In these categories. The parameters are shown in the ascending order of their names.

For example, if we have an activity with following parameters

  1. A(Workflow required)
  2. B(Optional)
  3. C(Workflow and activity required)
  4. D(Activity Required)
  5. E(Optional)

The activity parameters are arranged in the following order :- C, A, D, B, E

Note:- We can make a parameter as workflow required while designing the workflow in Trident Composer.

Does these mean that parameters that are in the same group are sequenced randomly or does the framework have ordering at the group level as well?

Parameters in the same group are sorted in ascending order of their names.
