Trident vs Dublin

Sep 8, 2010 at 10:36 AM

Hello,

As a potential user of Trident I am curious as to how it relates to the Dublin effort (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/magazine/dd347832.aspx) and why I should choose one over the other?  It seems they both cover very similar ground.

Best regards,

Dirk

Hi Dirk,

We cannot do any comparison between Trident and Dublin because:

Trident is an open source project from MSR targeted for researchers.  Currently it supports WF 3.5.
Dublin is a product.  It is designed for .NET 4 WCF and WF applications.

Can you please let us know which problem are you trying to solve by using Trident/Dublin?

Thanks,

Hello,

Well it seems both provide similar infrastructure and solve similar problems.  I had assumed that Trident would end up sitting on top of Dublin or that Trident workflows would be runnable in Dublin.  So my question was really if there were any plans for the roadmaps of the two projects to intersect.  But it seems this is not the case at this point.

Thanks,

Cheers,

Dirk
